iv been waiting on this one a vary long time.

    i love this show.

its a shame what happen to Jon-Erik Hexum.

this would of lasted a lot longer if not for what happen to him.

    Thank you Universal…

  2. I love this series, but only because I watched it when I was a kid. I don’t think the kids of today would be interested in it. It’s pretty old school.

THE GOOD: The costumes are great, and the filming locations were pretty good too. The basic idea of the series is brilliant, if not paradoxical – and it makes you think.

THE BAD: The acting is fingernails on a chalkboard and there are a lot of blatant blunders in the directing. For example, a guy will get shot and act like he’s in pain, and then ten seconds later, he’s walking around acting totally normally. This series comes with an extra slice of CHEESE.

    The price is right though…

Since we both were born a couple of months apart, I always felt a special kinship with the star (Hexum) and am still amazed, even after 23 years, at the stupid, self-inflicted way he died. Childish, on the set prank resulted in him shattering his skull by discharging a Magnum.44 blank gun against his temple! Since he was an organ donor, though, his death resulted in at least 5 people being assisted in life saving operations.

A lot of people here have complained that this very good series was cancelled before it’s time becuase of the studio. Just want to remind them that it was cancelled because of the tragic death of its star, Mr. Hexum, on set. As I recall, he was playing around with a prop gun and pretended to shoot himself with it, like Russian roulette. Blanks are still projectiles, and it killed him. I remember being devastated at the time, having indulged in a nice crush on the main character. A horrible waste of a talented individual.

Great that they finally released the series, and indeed I would have given it five stars (even without any extras to speak of) it were not for the haphazard way they edited around the commercial spots. Granted, they’re not cutting out much material, but it was totally obvious when they edited out the commercial spots in certain episodes as I did miss the cliffhanger. Can’t understand why this was done in this day of dual-layer media (certainly can’t say it was done for space consideration on the disc). It would have been less trouble (I would have thought, using common sense here) to just leave the episodes intact as presented on the masters.
