The first season was 30 bucks, while this one is about 50. WHY?
Same number of discs and episodes…
Are the discs gold plated or something?
Are there autographs of all the people who played in that 2nd season?
What is the logic behind increasing the price so much?
Now that they got us by the balls, having bought and enjoyed season 1 and/or being fans of SNL, now that they got us hooked, they hike the price… They KNOW we will pay that much…
Shame on AMAZON for selling so expensive. From $29.99 to $48.99, I’d like to see the justifications for that…..
First of all, we have put up with years of expensive and below average “best of” single disc DVD’s on the show’s specific characters. Last year, I was so excited to learn they were releasing season sets. However, the studio seems to be releasing one per year. At this rate, I will be an old man and we will have gone through several different video formats before I am willing to buy the sets for characters such as Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, and Jimmy Falloon. Those of you who are hard core fans of the show need to write the studio urging them to at least release two seasons per year. That way we might be getting somewhere sometime soon. This is a great show and now that they have started to release season sets, I don’t understand why they can’t speed it up a bit, especially since its one of the longest running TV shows in history. Alot of other crappy TV shows get several releases per year!

I guess it might have been funny then, but now it’s lame so its not the product, but the reviewer I guess. I dont know what it is, but the SNL cast on it are obviously nervous, new, and not comfortable. It is very odd to see them this way versus my memory where they were comfortable, add-libbing, and natural.

What surprises me is how little the other reviewers comment on the picture quality. While one cannot deny that there is some great history-making comedy in here, I believe more cara could have been put into restoring the tapes. Not all are bad but there is a significant amount of color bleeding as well as fuzziness that should have been taken care of, especially at this price. The sound quality is great as are the performances so it is not a massive problem. While it is great tosee the Kinks perform, it is interesting to still note an above-average number of pre-new wave/punk acts on the show that have not allways aged well (e.g. Paul Simon).

I already have the first season and was really looking forward for the second season. I’m half-way through now and must say so far it is not as funny as the first season. Was it a coincident that Chevy Chase finally managed to get hurt during one of his famous openings and was missing and soon after left the show? Whatever’s the reason, in this first half many sketches are just boring, way to obvious or missing a punch line. But still, it’s SNL and it has a few highlights and since the arrival of Bill Murray I think it’s picking up speed. Will see what the other half of this season will bring. And I’m looking forward for the third season.
