It’s more of the same for Larry David’s sitcom from HBO, and for fans, that’s a good thing. The show–largely extemporized–follows suit of David’s former series, Seinfeld: it’s a show about nothing, just the everyday life of the star going about his pseudo-real world. But David’s show has far more edge (thanks, in part, to airing on cable TV) with all the bad luck… More >>

  1. This is the worst show ever produced – taking advantage of Seinfeld fans misguided loyalty, and the wrongful thought, that since this is made by Larry Davis, it has to be good… it don’t!

After a couple of episodes (if you actually get this deep into it before throwing away the dvd’s) you realise that the dialogue actually follows the same structure and speech patterns that Seinfeld does – only this show has no proper actors or comedians to deliver the lines.

It’s stiff, slow, tries to hard but keeps on failing, annoying, embarrassing and quite frankly a disaster.

I have no idea who these guys are that gives this 5 stars, but they have to be family of Larry’s.

I bought the entire series based on the stupid 5 star reviews and the fact that I too thought that ‘Larry Davis, this can only be good’ – but I’ve had to through the dvd’s out without even seeing all the episodes.

    Waste of time and money!!!

Wow this is bad. I acquired it after a friend recommended it when we were talking about Seinfeld. Not even remotely in the same league.

All these reviews talk about how the show is great, but there are no special features or commentary tracks at all like the first one. I agree the show is brilliant but the DVD sucks. I’d recommend just downloading all the episodes online and saving yourself the money

Some outrageous moments keep this show afloat, but overall this is a disappointing season, beginning the downturn that continues in Season 3. The ideas are becoming strained, and the scenarios a bit harder to believe. There are some funny moments, but this isn’t worth a purchase – save it for rental.

  5. Cheryl David has become a total harpy.

I fear that the character this season is based more closely on Larry’s real life wife. She’s not cute or funny, she’s just mean. I really like Cheryl Hines and she was great in the first season, but I hope to see less of her from here on out. She has turned into another superficial yuppie politically involved annoying pampered Hollywood wife. YUCK!

That said, Larry, Jeff and the others are still very very funny.
